This full day workshop would provide participants with a conceptual and experiential overview of the field of drama therapy as well as an understanding of several key ideas such as the transitional, or ‘as if’ space, aesthetic distance, dramatic projection, embodiment, and role that comprise this practice. APTA is a Type 1 Approved Provider of play therapy training through CACPT, and this workshop is approved for play therapy continuing education.

Nisha Sajnani, RDT, PhD, is the President-Elect for the National Association for Drama Therapy (USA), Past Ethics Chair (NADT), Past President of the Creative Arts in Counselling Chapter of the Canadian Counselling Association, and Director of Creative Alternatives (Montreal). She currently practices in New Haven, CT where she is the Director of Community Partnerships for the Post Traumatic Stress Center (PTSC) and where she works with individuals, couples, families, and community groups who have experienced relational and systemic trauma. Nisha is also on the faculty of the Institutes for the Arts in Psychotherapy in New York City and at Yale University. Her most recent publications have focused on transformative witnessing and cultural dialogue through performance.
